Bruch and Beethoven

Programme

  • Max Bruch First violin concerto
  • Ludwig van Beethoven Fourth symphony

Maria Milstein plays Bruch's compelling First Violin Concerto. Otto Tausk conducts the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Beethoven's Fourth Symphony.

Max Bruch's best and most famous violin concerto begins like a Vorspiel from a romantic opera. What follows is serious, compelling and tranquil. To conclude this adapted programme, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra plays Beethoven's Fourth Symphony - not by chance his most lively, optimistic and cheerful symphony, like a winter sun that unexpectedly shows itself between grey clouds.
