  • Brahms Third symphony

Russian delights by the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. The celebrated Argentine Sol Gabetta will solo in Shostakovich's First Cello Concerto. Brahms' Third Symphony.

Sol Gabetta in Shostakovich's First Cello Concerto
Even the most difficult technical passages sounded like a deep inner song to Gabetta', is what the Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote about Sol Gabetta's playing. The celebrated Argentine cellist is soloist with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Shostakovich. His First Cello Concerto is colourful, reflective but sometimes also fierce and caustic. Mørk in one of the most intense works for his instrument.

Brahms
The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra links Shostakovich to Brahms. Dima Slobodeniouk, a beloved guest conductor of the orchestra, leads the delightful ThirdSymphony, which he wrote in Wiesbaden in the summer of 1883. Hans Richter, who premiered the work in Vienna in early December of that year, christened it Brahms' Eroica.
