The Groot Omroepkoor is once again embarking on a short-lived adventure with a challenging soloist. This time the choir finds in Dutch cellist Quirine Viersen an ideal sparring partner. The heartwarming lilt of the cello and the impact of an immense choir complement each other perfectly in a spiritual program including Bach, Brahms and Pärt.
Spiritual
Cello and choir is a concert combination as unusual as it is logical. The Groot Omroepkoor is the inviting party and top cellist Quirine Viersen gladly takes up an adventurous idea. During the richly colored concert, cello classics and vocal works alternate at a brisk pace. Thus there will be modern work by Karl Jenkins, but also music by great predecessors.
Red thread
For Viersen, the collaboration provides a great opportunity to showcase her great versatility. Her favorite composer Bach runs like a thread through the concert. 'Technical problems do not exist for her, she plays with the greatest ease, balanced, pleasant, sometimes even casually,' NRC praised her interpretation of the Bach suites. The Groot Omroepkoor surprised with sacred delights by Brahms, Pärt and Rachmaninov.
