In 2019, Ellister van der Molen and Bob Wijnen immersed themselves in the city where jazz originated: New Orleans. With their Hammond jazz formation 'RED' they played a tribute to the living jazz tradition there. Women of the Blues' is the logical continuation of this journey to its origins and essence. The ladies who made the blues great - including Mamie Smith, Ma Rainey, Clara Smith, Ethel Waters and Bessie Smith - are given extra attention in this intimate setting, where blues specialist Cok van Vuuren will join them on guitar.
