It has been a classic for years, the AVROTROS film music concert. The big hits, compelling melodies, and thunderous climactic moments bring back memories of those crazy adventures on the silver screen. And then played live by one of our country's best orchestras. Moreover, it is fantastic music even without accompanying images.
Film music has experienced a boom. Especially after World War II it became clear that good film music could be a hit. Composers such as Ennio Morricone, Max Steiner and John Williams took the profession seriously and provided unforgettable notes for films such as Once upon a time in the West, Casablanca and of course Indiana Jones, E.T. and so on.
Special attention this time is paid to film composer John Williams. Since his music to the 1970s blockbuster Jaws, he has been considered one of the best film composers. Working with director Steven Spielberg, the man who once began as a bar pianist wrote many classics to his name. Themes from Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter will undoubtedly pass by in the tribute to this 90-something.
