Dvořák's Eighth and Esther Yoo plays Bruch and Tchaikovsky
Programme
- Max Bruch Adagio appassionato for violin and orchestra op.57
- Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Valse-Scherzo for violin and orchestra op.34
- Antonín Dvořák Eighth symphony
Violinist Esther Yoo's performance during last season tasted like more. Therefore, she returns, this time with music for violin and orchestra by Bruch and Tchaikovsky. Ruth Reinhardt conducts Dvořák's grand Eighth Symphony, music that is simultaneously exhilarating and overwhelming.
Dvořák's Symphony No. 8
"Themes just fly at me," Dvořák said as he wrote the most beautiful melodies with the greatest of ease. After his heavy and stormy Seventh Symphony, he wanted to show a different side of himself with the Eighth: cheerful and lyrical. The joy of life radiates from it, especially through the influence of the Bohemian folk music of which Dvořák was so fond. Not surprisingly, this became one of the Czech master's most beloved symphonies.
Esther Yoo plays Bruch and Tchaikovsky
The unsurpassed American violinist Esther Yoo already shone last season of The Sunday Morning Concert with Glazunov's Violin Concerto. Now she returns with Bruch and Tchaikovsky. Not with their famous violin concertos, she brings two lesser-known, but at least as beautiful gems for violin and orchestra. Lyrical, richly colored and larded with the most beautiful melodies.
