Edo de Waart - Juri Hiensch

Edo de Waart 80 years

Programme

  • Johannes Brahms Gesang der Parzen
  • Johannes Brahms Nänie
  • Johannes Brahms Second Symphony

In honour of the eightieth birthday of Honorary Conductor of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Edo de Waart, a full evening with one of his great favourites, Johannes Brahms. Of course, the generous pages of melancholy as only he could put it down on paper so poignantly dominate. For example in his last work for choir and orchestra, Gesang der Parzen ( Song of the Goddesses ) on a text by Goethe about the fate of man and the world. Nänie on a text by Friedrich Schiller was intended for the memory of his late friend Anselm Feuerbach. With the radiant Second Symphony, spring announces itself.

This concert can also be followed via a webcast with images and subtitles at www.nporadio4.nl/live and is streamed on the Facebook page of AVROTROS Vrijdagconcert, among others. On 1 June it will be broadcasted on NPO2 Extra.
