Edo de Waart is honorary conductor of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, where he says he had his best years. He conducts one of his favourite works: Strauss' monumental Eine Alpensinfonie.

Strauss describes a day in the Alps, from shortly before sunrise until nightfall. Strauss passionately loved the landscape around Munich', says De Waart. And so all the elements of that landscape recur: from green mountain pastures to thickets. From rising mist to shining sun.
