A contemplative program centered on Schoenberg’s*Friede auf Erden*. A musical journey from suffering and transience to hope and peace.

Friede auf Erden
It could hardly be more universal or urgent: a musical call for peace. The Groot Omroepkoor began with*Friede auf Erden*, which Schoenberg would later describe as “an illusion for mixed choir.” Together with pianist Nathalia Milstein, the choir will perform works filled with hope, fear, war, loss, and joy by composers including Brahms, Liszt, and Mahler. A journey from human suffering and transience to hope and peace.

The Groot Omroepkoor usually performs alongside an orchestra. It is only on those occasions when the choir performs largely on its own that the phenomenal quality of this internationally unique ensemble truly shines through. Old, new, classical, romantic—everything suits this ensemble like a glove. For a new work for choir and piano, the singers are collaborating this time with the equally versatile pianist Nathalia Milstein.
