"Ambassadors of the new generation of saxophone quartets" is how the musicians who founded the Berlage Saxophone Quartet in 2008 have been described, rapidly conquering the podiums. Their phenomenal playing, exceptional richness of sound and inspired approach to timeless masterpieces have contributed to this. Alto saxophonist Peter Vigh recently arranged Bach's Goldberg Variations as his 'house arranger'. The arrangements of Schulhoff's Blues & Charleston and Kurt Weill's Cannon Song from Die Dreigroschenoper are also his work. Mozart and the always combative Hanns Eisler provide the raw material for the remaining parts of the programme.
