Kian Soltani plays Schumann's Cello Concerto

Programme

  • Robert Schumann Cello Concerto
  • Béla Bartók Concert for Orchestra

Kian Soltani plays Schumann
The Italian press calls Kian Soltani the new divo of the cello. The Washington Post compared his sound with 'the downy richness of caramel'. The Austrian-Iranian cellist has been on a triumphal march in recent years. His latest album, full of exciting film music, was given the significant title Cello Unlimited. With just one instrument, with which he recorded part after part, Soltani formed an enormous ensemble. Today, he is soloing with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Schumann's lyrical and sometimes tempestuous Cello Concerto.

Karina Canellakis conducts Bartók
The American Karina Canellakis has for some time now been the highly acclaimed principal of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Today she is conducting Bartók's Concert for Orchestra. An unusual title indeed, which can be taken literally: Bartók puts not one, but all instruments in the spotlight. He does so in a playful manner, danceable, full of Hungarian influences and with intriguing musical puzzles.
