Radio Philharmonic Orchestra
The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra (RFO) is the symphony orchestra of the Netherlands Public Broadcasting Corporation and plays a central role in series such as the NTR Saturday Matinee and the AVROTROS Friday Concert. The orchestra distinguishes itself with surprising programming, new compositions and a strong connection to Dutch musical life. Led by chief conductor Karina Canellakis, the RFO works with top singers, conductors and composers, and plays at the highest international level.
Karina Canellakis
Karina Canellakis has been principal conductor of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra since 2019 and first guest conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra since 2021. She is internationally beloved for her intense, profound interpretations of symphonic and operatic repertoire. Canellakis regularly conducts top orchestras worldwide and makes recordings with Pentatone, including a Grammy-nominated Bartók cycle.
