Netherlands Chamber Orchestra with Paul Meyer
Programme
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Overture Il rè pastore
- Carl Maria Von Weber Concertino for clarinet and orchestra
- Igor Stravinsky Concerto in D
- Carl Maria Von Weber First symphony
He was born in Schleswig-Holstein as the son of a travelling musician. He was a cousin of Mozart's wife Constanze, grew up with operas by Haydn and Mozart and played as one of the three boys in Mozart's Zauberflöte. After a hectic and roaming life, he died a world-famous man in London: Carl Maria von Weber. In his Clarinet Concerto, he mixes bravura and stillness with an affinity for wind instruments that he shares with his great idol Mozart. In Weber's First Symphony (1806), one can hear how fresh Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito still sounded to his ears.
Unfortunately, Andreas Ottensamer has had to cancel for this concert and will be replaced by clarinettist Paul Meyer.
