NJO plays Rachmaninov
Programme
- Emánuel Moór Tripel Concert
- Sergei Rachmaninov Second symphony
In this concert, the Nationaal Jeugdorkest joins forces with the Storioni Trio for a very special programme. This trio will be soloing in the Triple Concerto by the Hungarian-British composer Emánuel Moór (1863-1931), originally written for the legendary Cortot-Thibaud-Casals trio. Moór studied under Anton Bruckner in Vienna, among others. This is followed by a work that is overloaded with superlatives, the Second Symphony of Sergei Rachmaninov. It is considered one of his best works and is a wonderful example of Rachmaninov's late romanticism, written in Russia in 1908, following in the footsteps of Tchaikovsky.
