Ben Kim: 'exceptional phenomenon'
Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Ben Kim gave his first public solo recital at the age of eight. His orchestral debut followed at the age of twelve. After studies with Leon Fleisher, Martha Argerich and Klaus Hellwig, among others, his international career took off in 2009. He performed in major venues around the world. Ben Kim received the 2017 LOTTO Career Development Prize from the Rheingau Music Festival. 'His brilliant technique and incredible flair for interpretive refinement are self-evident. An exceptional phenomenon among pianists of his generation: such natural, sympathetic charisma and pleasing modesty, coupled with great virtuosity, are rarely experienced among a leading musician,' according to the international jury's report.
