Nikola Meeuwsen's performance in the 2021-22 season had to be postponed due to coronagraphic measures. He wanted nothing to do with postponement, and neither did we: on this date, this remarkably young Dutch piano talent can still be heard. After hearing Rachmaninov's Third Piano Concerto in a performance by legendary pianist Vladimir Horowitz at age six, Nikola knew he wanted to become a pianist. After successes at several important competitions, he was awarded the Concertgebouw Young Talent Award in 2019. In 2020, he participated in the talent track "AVROTROS Classical Presents," in which young classical talent is given the opportunity to record his or her debut album. In April 2020, Nikola's debut album was released with works by Bach, Brahms, Schumann and Skrjabin, recorded at the Muziekcentrum van de Omroep. During this performance, Nikola focuses on works by Beethoven and Debussy.
