Pieces of Tomorrow: La Mer

Programme

  • Sofia Gubaidoelina Der Zorn Gottes
  • Claude Debussy La mer

Who has not had a poster of a French impressionist on the wall for a while in their youth? Monet, Renoir or Cézanne, for example? Claude Debussy was also in that corner. In 1905 he wrote La Mer. In it he 'tone-painted' three sea sketches with comparable vagueness. Delicate and subtle. He used the enormous orchestra to compose hundreds of nuances, never to make noise.
This is different in the other piece on the menu: Der Zorn Gottes (God's Wrath) by Sofia Gubaidulina. During the Corona Lockdown, the 90-year-old recluse composer worked hard and cinematically to make it clear that God is angry with us. A spicy contrast.

About Pieces of Tomorrow
Pop and classical music join forces to present Pieces of Tomorrow: classical music in a new guise. No dress code, we start a little later, the musicians briefly introduce what they are going to play, you can take your beer inside, DJ St. Paul is our host, visuals support the story and we let the music do the talking, it needs no adjustment. Immerse yourself in the sound of a full symphony orchestra!
