Pieces of Tomorrow - Requiem by Fauré

Programme

  • Gabriel Fauré Requiem

Loving reflection on death and impermanence

The Requiem of the Catholic Mass is usually dedicated to someone who has died. Numerous composers have written music for it, either commissioned or of their own accord. Magnificent and often poignant works have thus seen the light of day. French composer Gabriel Fauré worked on his Requiem between 1887 and 1890 and became world famous for it. It is a loving reflection on death and impermanence, "as gentle as myself," Fauré clarified his creation.

Fauré's Requiem is performed here by the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the Groot Omroepkoor conducted by regular guest conductor Stéphane Denève. This assures you of an intense musical experience in the familiar setting of Pieces of Tomorrow. For those who didn't know: that's casual enjoyment of classical music, we start a little later, your beer is allowed inside, DJ St. Paul hosts and the program is briefly explained and supported with visuals.
