About Shostakovich 5
You won't want to miss this edition. Shostakovich's most famous symphony, his Fifth. In the terrible 1930s in the USSR, Stalin thought Dmitri Shostakovich was writing rotten music, and thus a traitor to his country. Shos knew what he had to do: a symphony to please the boss. His Fifth Symphony is full of the retteketet that Stalin loved. Fortunately, he did not understand, what the rest of the Soviet Union did hear: how bitterly sarcastic the symphony is. Heavily impressive.
