Reich, Glass & Adams
Programme
- Steve Reich Three movements for orchestra
- Philip Glass Concert for 2 pianos and orchestra
- John Adams Naive and Sentimental music (revised edition) (Dutch premiere)
The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra is coming to Domstad with an all-American programme. And that with one of the best-known contemporary American composers at the podium: John Adams. He will also conduct his composition Naive and Sentimental Music. Slow chords from Bruckner's Fourth Symphony and the atmosphere on the Californian coast inspired Adams. Also on the bill are the renowned Labèque piano sisters, who will perform Philip Glass' Concert for Two Pianos, which they premiered in Los Angeles in 2015. The concert opens with music by Steve Reich, one of the greatest sources of inspiration for John Adams and one of the founders of minimal music.
