Ronald Brautigam in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3

Programme

  • Otto Chain from the Third symphony: Adagio
  • Ludwig van Beethoven Third piano concerto
  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart from Piano Concerto no. 24: Larghetto

Beethoven specialist Ronald Brautigam celebrates his 70th birthday at The Concertgebouw with Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto. The lyrical concerto is bursting with delightful virtuosity.

Ronald Brautigam
On October 1, the eminent pianist and Beethoven specialist Ronald Brautigam turns 70. He celebrates this a few days before, where he is most at home: in the Great Hall of the Concertgebouw. Accompanied by the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, he will solo in Beethoven's mighty
Third Piano Concerto.

Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3
Beethoven kept the key of c minor for his most extroverted and emotional compositions: stormy, heroic and dramatic. The
Third Piano Concerto is no exception. The long, symphonic orchestral introduction and the powerful piano entry set the stage for a concerto full of lyricism and virtuosity. The Adagio from Otto Kettings Third Symphony is poignant and elusive. It is decidedly modern, but regularly refers to the music of Mahler.
