The Groot Omroepkoor, together with principal conductor Benjamin Goodson and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, perform Mozart's festive Krönungsmesse, combined with romantic choral works by Brahms and Vaughan Williams.

Festive and radiant Mozart's Krönungsmesse
The Groot Omroepkoor, under the direction of principal conductor Benjamin Goodson, has impressed on many occasions with masterpieces by Mozart. Following the success of Mozart's poignant Requiem in July 2022, this summer the choir chooses Mozart's radiant Krönungsmesse. Mozart was irritated that his patron, the Archbishop Hieronymus von Colloredo of Salzburg, ordered a mass that was "especially not to be too long," but the result is stunning. This Mass for four solo singers, choir and orchestra consists of six relatively short movements and glows with liveliness.

Romantic choral works
The Groot Omroepkoor distinguishes itself from other professional choirs in the Netherlands by also performing many large-scale, romantic choral works, regularly together with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. This time the choir sings Brahms' impressive Schicksalslied, about the luck of the gods and the fate of man. In the contrasting Five Mystical Songs by Vaughan Williams, the choir sounds extra beneficent in the last movement, especially since in the earlier movements it actually plays a modest role during the meditative solos for baritone and orchestra.
