Anton Istomin

Anton Istomin is 2nd solo cellist of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He studied at the famous school for the gifted in his hometown St. Petersburg. From 1984 to 1989 he studied with Alexander Nikitin at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. He gave numerous concerts in the former Soviet Union and in 1988 won the prize at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig. From 1986 to 1992 he was cellist with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic. Before joining the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, he was solo cellist with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.
