Julija Hartig

Julija Hartig was first violinist with the former Radio Chamber Philharmonic from 2000. Since August 2013 she holds that position with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.

She was born in Yugoslavia in 1972 and received her first violin lessons at the age of five. As a young talent she won several awards. Julija studied violin at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad (Yugoslavia). After completing this course, she was appointed assistant to her former teacher E.A. Chugaeva at the same conservatory.

Julija has lived in the Netherlands since 1994. She continued her studies at the Rotterdam Conservatoire with Ilya Grubert. At the Utrechts Conservatorium she graduated cum laude with K. Wataya.
Julija performs solo regularly with various orchestras, such as the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Belgrade and St. Georges Strings. In addition, Julija has given recitals in the Netherlands and abroad. She has also participated in international festivals, such as The Summer Festival of Dubrovnik and the Grachtenfestival Amsterdam.

Since 2002 Julija has been a member of Duo Hartig-Broekhans. The duo won third prize at the International Chamber Music Competition Gaetano Zinetti in 2004.
Julija has recorded CDs for the Emergo Classics and Terpsihora labels. She also participated in the Captured Images project in Rotterdam, Cultural Capital of Europe 2001.
Julija Hartig plays a violin by the maker Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, which was put at her disposal by the Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds.
