Maria del Mar Escarabajal Baadenhuijsen

Maria del Mar Escarabajal Baadenhuijsen began her violin lessons at the Amstelveen Music School. From the age of 12 she was a member of the NJSO, followed later by various chamber music ensembles, the national youth orchestras of the Netherlands and Spain and the European Union Youth Orchestra. After obtaining her gymnasium diploma, she studied with Kees Hülsmann at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. She took chamber music lessons with, among others, the Takaçs Quartet and Orlando Quartet. Since her student days she has frequently substituted with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Dutch Chamber Orchestra, Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta de Ciudad Granada and the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, among others. She graduated in 1999 and that same year was accepted into the Radio Chamber Orchestra. Here she worked with numerous specialists in baroque and contemporary music. Since 2005 she has been part of ensemble Insomnio and with it she has given concerts at festivals of contemporary music in the Netherlands, England, Germany, France, Finland, Spain, Italy, Slovenia and Hong Kong.

Since 2013 she has been associated with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra as 1st violinist.
