Nina de Waal

Nina de Waal was born in 1979 in Amsterdam. She studied at the conservatories of Amsterdam and St. Petersburg with Valentin Zhuk, Antonina Kazarina and Alla Kim. Nina de Waal was part of the Valerius Ensemble (Enschede). She was also first violinist in the Orkest van het Oosten. Furthermore she played as a substitute in a.o. the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest, Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Nederlands Kamerorkest, Amsterdam Sinfonietta and the Residentie Orkest. In 2004 she was deputy concertmaster of the orchestra of the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival.

From September 2009 Nina de Waal was part of the second violins of the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic. In August 2013 she joined the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. With Anne-Marie Volten she also forms the violin duo WAVE. In her spare time she practices flamenco dance and guitar. She reads, draws and enjoys making Sinterklaas presents. As a volunteer she supports the Dutch Refugee Council.
