Henk van Heijnsbergen

The bass Henk van Heijnsbergen was born in 1954 in Zaandam. He started his vocal studies with Wout Oosterkamp in 1978.

In the Netherlands, he performs frequently, including with the broadcasting orchestras, the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, the Residentie Orkest and the Brabants Orkest. He gained international fame with a large number of performances of Stockhausen's works, conducted by the composer himself.

Henk made his opera debut in Der Freischütz (Eremit) with the former Opera Forum (now Nationale Reisopera). This was followed by a large number of engagements with Opera Zuid, the Holland Festival and the Nederlanse Opera. At the Vlaamse Opera, he is invited for at least one production each season.
Henk is also often a guest soloist with Dutch radio ensembles. For example, he sang the role of Jaco in the concert performance of Verdi's opera Ernani and in Vec Makropoulos by Janacek. Since 1983 Henk has been associated with the Groot Omroepkoor.
