Lotte de Vries

Lotte de Vries played the violas in the Radio Chamber Philharmonic from March 2010 until August 2013. Since August 2013 she is a member of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. She was born in Groningen in 1981. After a few years of violin lessons from Josien le Coultre, she was more attracted to the melancholic sound of the viola. Lotte switched and after secondary school studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Marjolein Dispa. She also studied with Ferdinand Erblich in The Hague and completed her studies 'cum laude'.

Lotte then went on to earn her masters, also cum laude, at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. From 2007, she played as a substitute in various ensembles. She auditioned with the Magogo Chamber Orchestra. Lotte de Vries was deputy leader for a short period before she was accepted by the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic. Partly because of the compact line-up and the special character of this ensemble, she felt very much at home here.
