Peter Weimar

Violinist Peter Weimar has been a member of the first violinists of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra since 2002. He is also a member of the Balyajev Piano Trio.

Before that, he gained experience in numerous orchestras and chamber music ensembles, both in his native Germany and far beyond.
Peter-Martin Weimar studied with Glenn Dicterow, Georg Baynov and Valentin Zhuk. In 1994 he received his Master of Music degree and in 1999 the diploma for orchestral musician. 

He has played with The Orchestra of St. Luke's, New York Pops, Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra, New York Virtuosi and the Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has worked as concertmaster with the Westchester Camerata, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra and Manhattan Virtuosi, among others. As a soloist, he has performed with the Bachanalia Orchestra, Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra of Vilnius and the Arcata Chamber Orchestra Stuttgart. With this last orchestra he also recorded Bach's Double Concerto on CD. 

Peter-Martin Weimar participated in various festivals, including the Caramoor Music Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival. He has worked with renowned conductors and soloists such as Leonard Bernstein, Sergiu Celibidache, Vladimir Ashkenazy, André Previn, Svyatoslav Richter, Edo de Waart, Luciano Pavarotti, Emanuel Ax, Pieter Wispelwey, Hélène Grimaud and Joshua Bell.
In the non-classical corner he worked with a.o. Mariah Carey, Céline Dion, Aretha Franklin, Shania Twain, Joni Mitchell and Herbie Hancock.
