Stanislav Kochanovsky
Stanislav Kochanovsky's extraordinary artistic personality has earned him the status of one of today's most brilliant conductors.
In recent years he has made successful debuts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Vienna Symphoniker and the Israel Philharmonic, among others, working with soloists such as L. Kavakos, M. Pletnev, M. Vengerov, D. Matsuev, A. Volodin, K. Gerstein, S. Khachatryan, V. Frang, T. Mork, P. Ferrandez and M. Goerne.
In the 2022/23 season, he will make his U.S. debut as conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington and the Cleveland Orchestra.
With his in-depth knowledge of, and experience with, a wide range of the symphonic repertoire and opera, he is regularly invited by renowned orchestras and opera houses around the world, including the Orchestre de Paris, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Philharmonia Orchestra of London the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Danish National Symphony, the NDR Elb Philharmonie and Radio Philharmonie, the Dresden Philharmonie, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, as well as the most important Russian orchestras including St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Russian Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and the Russian Opera. Petersburg Philharmonic, Russian National Orchestra, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia and the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra.
With more than thirty operas in his repertoire, Stanislav Kochanovsky recently conducted such works as Pique Dame and Eugene Onegin at the Opernhaus Zurich, Iolanta at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Prince Igor at the Nationale Opera Amsterdam, working with such prominent directors and singers as D. Tcherniakov, B. Kosky, E. Nikitin, A. Netrebko, I. Abdrazakov, O. Borodina, L. Davidsen and P. Mattei. As a guest conductor, he regularly performs at the Mariinsky Theater.
Since 2017, Kochanovsky has also been a guest at the prestigious Verbier Festival, where he conducts an opera in concert each year. Thus he has conducted Eugene Onegin, Rigoletto, Die Zauberflöte and a symphonic program with soloists Lucas Debargue and Mikhail Pletnev, among others.
In addition to the classical repertoire, Kochanovsky focuses on rarely performed works and new compositions. In recent seasons, he has conducted such gems as Ligeti's Requiem, Skriabin-Nemtin's Mysterium, Kodály's Psalmus Hungaricus, Shostakovich's unfinished opera The Gamblers, Myaskovsky's Silence, Weinberg's Symphony no. 21 Kaddish and works by contemporary composers including Dean, Fedele, Broström, Tawfiq, Visman, Campogrande, Martinsson, Golijov, Thorvaldsdottir, Tarnopolski, Rääts and Vasks.
Stanislav Kochanovsky studied at the Glinka Choir School in his native St. Petersburg and graduated cum laude from the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in the subjects of choral conducting, organ and opera symphonic.
Kochanovsky was chief conductor of the State Safonov Philharmonic Orchestra and in 2007 he began his collaboration with the Mikhailovsky Theater, where he had the opportunity to conduct more than sixty opera and ballet performances from the age of 25.
