Kenneth Montgomery

It was with sadness that we learned of the unexpected death of Kenneth Montgomery on March 5.

Kenneth Montgomery was long associated with the broadcasting ensembles. In 1975 he was appointed chief conductor of the Broadcasting Orchestra, then of the Radio Symphony Orchestra and of the Great Broadcasting Choir, until 1990. Kenneth played an important role in the development of these ensembles. After his departure, he continued to regularly join our ensembles as a popular guest conductor.

We wish his husband Jan van Dooren and his loved ones every strength in coping with this loss. Stichting Omroep Muziek and its musicians will remember Kenneth Montgomery as a passionate professional, an amiable man and a musician pur sang.

On behalf of all,

Broadcast Music Foundation
