Rory Johnston new assistant conductor Groot Omroepkoor
The Grand Omroepkoor is pleased to announce that Rory Wainwright Johnston has been appointed assistant conductor for the 2024-2025 season. Johnston will assist principal conductor Benjamin Goodson during the coming season, among other things, during a cappella projects and CD recordings. He will also assist Eric Whitacre during The Living Room at TivoliVredenburg and will assume a role within the GOK Academy.
Rory Johnston is a conductor and composer from Bradford-on-Avon, England. His musical training began in the boys' choir at Bath Abbey and he studied Music in Manchester, specializing in conducting and composition. He later earned a master's degree in composition with distinction and a master's degree in conducting in Berlin in 2022. In addition to being assistant conductor of the Groot Omroepkoor, Johnston works with the RIAS Kammerchor.
