Extension of the appointment of Principal Guest Conductor Stéphane Denève.

We are pleased to announce that, following the success of his first four-year term, Stéphane Denève’s contract as principal guest conductor of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra has been extended through the 2030–2031 season. With his energy, musical vision, and strong bond with the orchestra, Stéphane Denève has become an indispensable artistic partner over the past few years.

We look forward to continuing this special collaboration in the years to come, in Hilversum, at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and far beyond.

“To me, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra is a particularly refined ensemble, imaginative, generous and flexible. Every collaboration feels like an adventure, driven by shared curiosity and ambition. That is why I am grateful and delighted that we will continue to build on our artistic partnership through 2031,” said Stéphane Denève.

“Stéphane is a musician with exceptional musical imagination and integrity. In recent years, he has built a strong and inspiring bond with the orchestra, challenging and inspiring the musicians in the best possible way. We are proud and grateful to be able to continue this collaboration and look forward to the musical adventures that lie ahead,” said Simone Meijer, director of Stichting Omroep Muziek.
