The 61st season of the NTR Saturday Matinee brings, as always, top-class musicians and exciting repertoire. Four concerts are dedicated to the Danish composer/wizard Hans Abrahamsen. Kent Nagano conducts his opera The Snow Queen. The same Nagano also performs Das Rheingold - on instruments from Wagner's time. We celebrate Steve Reich's 85th birthday with a world premiere, commissioned by the Matinee. Klangforum Wien comes to the Matinee for the first time and brings the ballet music Kraanerg by Iannis Xenakis.

Many old acquaintances of world class return, including Simone Lamsma, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, Magdalena Kožená, Pablo Heras-Casado, Barbara Hannigan, Mari Eriksmoen, Julia Lezhneva and William Christie. Karina Canellakis will conduct her Radio Philharmonic Orchestra five times (including Janáčeks in Kát'a Kabanová and four premieres), Benjamin Goodson will perform works by Pärt and Schnittke for his Groot Omroepkoor.
