NTR Saturday Matinee

The NTR Saturday Matinee is known nationally and internationally for its original programming: brand new work by leading contemporary composers, the state of affairs in international Baroque music, unique opera productions, and five centuries of vocal-symphonic music. With a leading role for the Groot Omroepkoor and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, which were founded in 1945.

NTR Saturday Matinee

In the 2020-2021 season, the NTR Saturday Matinee celebrates its sixtieth season! And that is something to celebrate.

Of course, this happens in the first place with the concerts in The Concertgebouw and their live broadcast on NPO Klassiek. In addition, the NTR will pay attention to the long Matinee history throughout the season on NPO Klassiek, NPO 2 and NPO 2 Extra. And the ZaterdagMatinee opens its archives.

So here you can listen to the absolute highlights of the past 59 years!

And here you can listen to the podcast series Markante Maestro's.

In the 2021-2022 season, four concerts are dedicated to the Danish composer/wizard Hans Abrahamsen. Kent Nagano will conduct his opera The Snow Queen. The same Nagano also performs Das Rheingold - on instruments from Wagner's time. We celebrate Steve Reich's 85th birthday with a world premiere, commissioned by the Matinee. Klangforum Wien comes to the Matinee for the first time and brings the ballet music Kraanerg by Iannis Xenakis. Click here for the brochure for the 2021-2022 season.
