Violinist Candida Thompson and her Amsterdam Sinfonietta have once again put together a surprising and atmospheric evening album. And they bring a prominent guest with them: the French cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière (1990), winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for cello in 2017. On the programme, no long solo concerts and string pieces, but small gems, all of which have their own story yet together form a whole. Haydn is the thread and source of inspiration for the programme. Wonderful movements from his numerous symphonies are alternated with pieces that in turn refer in a colourful way to the great affable master.
