Johan Verheij

Johan Verheij is trumpeter in the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He was born in Gilze-Rijen in 1959 and studied trumpet with Willem van der Vliet at the Utrecht Conservatory. As a minor he did HaFa conducting with Gerrit Fokkema. He graduated in 1988.

After graduation, Johan played in the Amsterdam Promenade Orchestra. Since 1987 he has been associated with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He also works as a teacher of small brass and as a conductor with various brass bands. In his spare time Johan enjoys playing in a big band. He also rides horses and motorcycles.
