Simone Meijer new Director-Treasurer
The Broadcasting Music Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Simone Meijer as its new Managing Director effective June 1, 2024.
Simone Meijer (age 49) has been a leading figure in both the media and cultural sectors for many years. She previously worked, among other things, as station manager at NPO Klassiek, secretary for music and music theater at the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts, advisor at the Performing Arts Fund and programmer at The Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
"I am looking forward to getting to work at the Stichting Omroep Muziek (SOM). The SOM and its ensembles - the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the Groot Omroepkoor - are invaluable to Dutch musical life: they play an important role in the public broadcaster's mission to inspire and connect people with culture," said Simone Meijer. "Together with all the fantastic musicians, the SOM team and the broadcasters, I want to commit myself as director-director to reaching as many people as possible with classical music of the past and present through the most beautiful stage there is: our public media."
Chairman of the SOM Supervisory Board, Jan Reinier van Angeren: "The Supervisory Board is very pleased with the appointment of Simone Meijer. With this, the Music Broadcasting Foundation begins a new phase of growth and innovation."
Simone Meijer's expertise fits perfectly with the ambition of strengthening SOM's social role, developing new initiatives, and expanding SOM as a leading player in the broadcasting and music world.
